The Theodore Kraker Papers span the years 1882-1995 and document the activities of four North Dakota generations. The collection reflects changes in North Dakota family and community life throughout the 20th century. Documented families include Kraker, Formaneck, Jurgens, and Chezik. Of particular interest are the Grace Kraker Diaries, 1915-1979.

Kraker, Theodore Mark, 1920-1995

Theodore Mark "Ted" Kraker, the son of Mark and Grace (Jurgens) Kraker, was born April 7, 1920 in Wahpeton, North Dakota. The family moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1925. Ted attended St. Mary's Catholic School and then Central High School, where he graduated in 1938. In 1942, he received a bachelor's degree from the University of North Dakota. He then joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and served as an air traffic controller in Clovis, New Mexico during World War II. When the war ended, Krake...
